Training Opportunities

Residency and Fellowship

Our residency and fellowship programs are based in busy teaching hospitals that provide exposure to a tremendous variety of cases.

MD Education

Pathology faculty participate in the preclinical medical school curriculum in the general pathology course for first-year students and in the two-semester systemic pathology course for second-year students.

Graduate Study

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers advanced training in disease pathogenisis through the graduate program in pathobiology and the MD/PhD program. Department faculty are also leading contributors to graduate education in the life sciences at Brown.

Postdoctoral Training

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine sponsors MD and PhD postdoctoral training at Brown and at its affiliated hospitals.

Research Training

Through a range of pre- and post-doctoral training programs, pathology faculty at Brown are preparing the next generation of scientists to make groundbreaking discoveries and contributions to the field.

Undergraduate Education

Academic pathologists within the Department are actively engaged in training medical and graduate students, residents, and fellows who will become the next generation of scientists and physicians.

Summer Enrichment Program

The Summer Enrichment Program exposes high school students to career possibilities in basic and translational scientific research in pathology. Students are placed in an immersive work environment within individual research labs where they can interact directly with junior and senior scientists.
