The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) in The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University was formed four decades ago and currently employs over one hundred primary faculty spanning basic and translational science as well as clinical diagnostics. Our diverse faculty interests reflect our comprehensive mandate to offer cutting-edge diagnostic care while advancing our understanding of disease pathogenesis.
PLM delivers an extensive menu of routine and cutting-edge diagnostic tests and has faculty expertise in clinical pathology, as well as anatomic pathology. We offer advanced training programs including graduate (PhD), physician-scientist (MD/PhD), residency and fellowship training. Our training opportunities are fortified by high-complexity case materials coupled with world-renowned research programs focusing on disease pathogenesis linked to diagnostic and therapeutic development.
