Dr. Liang Cheng Published Platinum Opinion Article in European Urology

Dr. Liang Cheng, Professor of Pathology and Surgery (Urology) at Brown University, has published a Platinum Opinion article in the June 2026 issue of European Urology (Journal Impact Factor: 29), one of the world's leading journals in urology and oncology.  This international consensus paper provides evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis, classification, reporting, and clinical management of precursor lesions of genitourinary cancers. Developed by an international panel of experts, the recommendations offer practical guidance for pathologists, urologists, and oncologists, clarify the biologic significance of established and putative precursor lesions, and identify important priorities for future research.  This landmark publication establishes a contemporary framework for the evaluation and management of premalignant lesions across the genitourinary tract and represents a significant contribution to the field of urologic oncology. The work is expected to help standardize diagnostic practices, improve multidisciplinary communication, and facilitate future advances in patient care and research.  Dr. Cheng currently serves as President of the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP).
